The Main Event

"The Main Event" is the tenth episode of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. It first aired on October 12, 2000 on UPN.

Overview

Buzz and XR respond to an emergency distress call that sends them to the planet Sentilla 6, looking for a downed cargo ship full of dangerous explosives, and are attacked by Torque in the process. Little do they know they are merely fighting for the amusement of con artist Rentwhistle Swack and his client, the wealthy Norbert Klerm, who decides to up the stakes by luring none other than the Evil Emperor Zurg to the planet too.

Plot

Buzz manages to save both Swack and Klerm from the downed ship, as Zurg escapes the area. After landing safely, Klerm berates Buzz for not doing a more thorough rescue because his ship got destroyed and threatens his career while Buzz silences his protests by voicing his annoyance at the latter but says he won't hurt him because of his job as a Ranger. However, a frustrated Swack states unlike Buzz, he isn't a Space Ranger and promptly attacks his former employer in retaliation for repeatedly putting him in danger. As this goes on, XR comes up with his recovered arm and notices the scene and asked Buzz if he'll stop it. In response, the amused Buzz says he will but not for the time being.

Trivia

• This is the first of only two episodes in which Mira and Booster do not appear. The other is The Slayer.

Errors

• When one of Torque's clones punches Buzz, the normally sleeveless alien has sleeves on all of his four arms.
• In one scene, the colors of the Z insignia on Zurg's chest are briefly inverted.
• At the end of the episode, XR arrives carrying one of his legs under his right arm. However, as soon as the shot changes, he is holding the leg with his left arm. Then, when the shot changes again, the leg is back under his right arm again.
• In the credits, Rentwhistle Swack is mistakenly called Rentwhistle Swank.
• Nicole Sullivan and Stephen Furst are credited for voicing Mira and Booster, despite them not appearing in the episode. Patrick Warburton is also credited for voicing an LGM, but no LGMs appeared in this episode.
