I am your doom; I am NOS-4-A2.

—{{{2}}}

NOS-4-A2 is an energy vampire created by the Evil Emperor Zurg. He appears in a total of five episodes and is voiced by Craig Ferguson.

History

NOS-4-A2 is first seen in the titular episode, NOS-4-A2. He had arrived onto Star Command thanks to Team Lightyear earning his coffin in a battle with Warp Darkmatter, and when the coffin was placed inside Star Cruiser 42, the energy vampire awoke and possessed XR. From there, he wasn't seen until XR (under mind control from the bite) unleashed NOS-4-A2 upon Star Command, allowing the energy vampire to carry out his main directive: to destroy Star Command for the Evil Emperor Zurg. With a few clever ruses and control of the space station thanks to his unique powers over all things electrical and machine, he successfully managed to lead all Space Rangers away from the station while he carried out his plan. All but one; Star Cruiser 42.

Thanks to poor choice of words on NOS-4-A2's part while disguising his voice to be the Commander's, Buzz and Mira turn the ship back just in time to see what the energy vampire is really up to. As the Space Rangers fight, NOS-4-A2 calls upon the help of his XR, who he has dubbed "Little One". After it is discovered that XR is controlled, both Buzz and Mira try to develop a plan while NOS-4-A2 begins to turn the space station against them. The energy vampire eventually catches up with Buzz, and the two engage in combat; the latter quipping "leave it to the Evil Emperor, himself, to design a villain more arrogant than him". While they are fighting it out, Booster catches up with XR and is soon attacked by his former best friend, shocked. With barely enough time, Booster reminds XR who he really is: a Space Ranger, not the slave of an energy vampire; he used XR's authorized papers signed by the Commander himself to snap the robot out of the control.

Characteristics

Under construction.

Abilities

Flight: Possessing no feet, NOS-4-A2 moves around by hovering. For long-distance travels or heights more than a few meters, he uses his wings to propel himself.

Energy Absorption: NOS-4-A2 can drain energy from robots, machines and weapons. As long as his target is in close proximity, he can absorb it. However, in order to drain and control them, he has to bite them.

Mind Control: Through biting a robot or a machine, NOS-4-A2 can simultaneously drain it and hack into its systems, installing mind control programs that enable him to control them.

Energy Blasts:' NOS-4-A2 can fire beams of blue energy from both his hands and his mouth to attack his opponents.

Voice Imitation: In NOS-4-A2, to lure away the Space Rangers from Star Command, NOS-4-A2 imitated Commander Nebula's voice and initiated a red alert.

Trivia

It is no secret that NOS-4-A2's name derives from Nosferatu, a Romanian word synonymous with "vampire". Its origin and meaning vary, the word itself largely a literary creation that was first mentioned by Emily Gerard and popularized by Bram Stoker. Nevertheless, the word today has come to mean "vampire".[1]

Ironically, the term "energy vampire" already existed before NOS-4-A2, but it was more commonly referred to as a "psychic vampire". These beings were reputed to feed off of the lifeforce of living creatures. The term "energy vampire" is also used metaphorically, to refer to people whose influence leaves a person feeling exhausted, unfocused and depressed, without ascribing the phenomenon to psychic interference.[2] The term only attained a more literal sense through NOS-4-A2's representation, literally feeding off of the energy of robots instead of living creatures.
