Panchax

Panchax is a Bathyosian officer and the Chief of Security of the crystallic crystal mine on Bathyos.

Physical Appearance

As a Bathyosian, he is a red fish-like alien with thick lips and two maroon fins above his yellow eyes as his "eyebrows".

Personality

Panchax is very strict and does not tolerate anyone helping him on his missions. He's also a bit short-tempered, as shown when he expressed annoyance at an expensive machine being broken by others. Like other members of his race, he does not bode well with air breathers, but unlike them, he's willing to give them a chance, as seen when he worked with Buzz and his team.

He is dedicated to his job, as he worked for months investigating Gularis and determined to bring him in. When Buzz unintentionally ruined his chances, he was angry but changed his perspective after Buzz helped him defeat his enemy.

However, he is not above giving respect when it is due, as he put aside his differences with Team Lightyear to take down a common enemy. He also gave Buzz and his team respect for helping to defeat Gularis and appreciated him saving his life and kept his offer of joining Star Command in mind.

History

While making rounds, Panchax was tailed by Mira and XR through a seaweed field. Although the two thought they were stealthy, Panchax was aware of their acts and wasn't too surprised they got trapped, commenting to himself how air breathers get caught in a mess. Nevertheless, he sent his partner to free them while he went after Gularis.

Eventually, Panchax caught him in the act but Buzz and Booster foiled it and was captured by Gularis who revealed his true nature. Having the rangers and officer captive, Gularis revealed his plan to send a Hydro-bomb (a weapon capable of converting all the oxygen on a world to water) to Capital Planet. The three were saved by Panchax's partner, Mira, and XR. Both Panchax and Buzz argued who should stop Gularis, due to their respective responsibilities while simultaneously protecting the other from enemy attacks before they decided to work together.

With the help of Team Lightyear, Panchax went after the dignitary to thwart his plan. As Buzz went after the missile, Panchax stayed on the ship and fought off the "Bathyosians Against Air-Breathers" and defeated Gularis.

He then rescued Buzz from space after he dealt with the missile, he informed that he beat Gularis who was locked up in the brig. Having come to respect him, Buzz told him to consider joining Star Command, which Panchax said he would keep in mind. He then asked where Buzz sent the missile to and Buzz told him somewhere special, which was Zurg's planet.

Abilities

Panchax is a capable fighter, holding his own against several minions and defeating the shark-like Minister Gularis and eventually arresting him.

• His voice actor, Brian Doyle-Murray, voices the Flying Dutchman in the TV series SpongeBob SquarePants, which also takes place underwater.
