The Torque Armada

"The Torque Armada" is the first episode of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. It first aired on October 2, 2000 on UPN.

Overview

After Team Lightyear apprehends Torque, they are assigned to one of the most boring routine missions: patrolling Tanker Alley. Meanwhile, the Evil Emperor Zurg has Torque freed and provides him with a device that can make duplicates of himself, in exchange for Torque's aid in neutralizing Team Lightyear and destroying Capital Planet.

• The book Buzz vs. Torque: One-On-One was based on this episode.
• This is the only episode where Zurg made a major appearance without interacting with Buzz and the gang.
• The episode title is likely a pun on the name Torquemada. Tomás de Torquemada was the first Grand Inquisitor of the Spanish Inquisition.

• Torquemada was the main villain of the comic strip Nemesis the Warlock, whose army was called the Torque Armada.

• Zurg's chest is purple instead of silver in one shot.
• In several scenes, Mira's jetpack button is missing from her suit.
